Chamomile tea and tears

  The apartment always smelled of chamomile and morning sunlight when Jenny and Julian were together. They were the kind of couple that made people smile—gentle, soft-spoken, leaving little love notes on the bathroom mirror and sharing umbrella space even when it poured. To anyone looking in, Julian was her sanctuary, and Jenny was his world. Then came the rainy Saturday evening that quietly fractured everything. A few of Jenny’s college friends had gathered over wine and board games. Laughter was running high, and in the middle of a playful dare game, someone snatched Jenny’s phone.
